Just a little twist to my normal routine today. I accompanied Ma’am Donna to buy a chair for her nephew Jonathan who is a college student now. His exams are fast approaching so he needs to frequently burn his midnight candle in preparation to acing those exams. We went to several stores to scout for a chair that would would perfectly fit his stature. He seems to be six-footer man. I don’t know but I already saw him once.
After visiting a number of stores, we finally got one. (Hmm, she seems to be very meticulous). When we were already in the car, she shared that Jonathan is an incoming 3rd year student already and he is ding well. So, for the past years, Jonathan had been studying on his bed. Hmmm, I wonder how he fights sleepiness whenever he does.
My question in making this simple story is that, will you still continue to run the race whenever you’re presented with uncomfortable situation? This is more than the story of finding a chair. It’s about defying your circumstances and making things happen.
Other people are presented with more difficult situations, extreme ones I should say. But still, they find ways on how to survive or even thrive. Other people can’t go to school because they have insufficient resources. But still, that is not enough reason to stop pursuing your goal. Make ways. Defy your circumstances. Joel Osteen said it best, “You must take what God gives you and make the very most of it. Don’t sit around thinking, why did this happen to me?”
